The Forest Opera in Sopot is one of the most beautiful amphitheatres in Europe, whose history dates back to 1909. Its origins lay in the idea of creating a unique place in Sopot, a perfect acoustic theatre in the open air, which was on the one hand a ‘temple of art and the the other an attraction attracting crowds of visitors to Sopot.
The rich, hundred-plus years of history of the venue shows that the idea of its creators was successfully implemented over the next decades. Huge theatre and opera performances, festivals of classical and pop music as well as concerts by international stars were organized on the boards of the Forest Opera.
The outdoor exhibition at the Forest Opera is comprised of over two hundred black and white and color photos, including archival documents, set designs and costumes from the collections of the Sopot Museum, the Gdańsk Library of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Municipal Public Library in Sopot, the Baltic Artistic Agency BART, the City Hall of Sopot , Polish Press Agency and Kosycarz Foto Press KFP Photographic Agency.
The exhibition can be viewed at the Forest Opera throughout the year.
The exhibition is organized by the Sopot Museum, the Baltic Artistic Agency and Sopot City Hall and is funded by the financial support of the City of Sopot.
