We invite you on September 27 for the spectacle ‘Discreet Charm of Picasso’ directed by Jacek Krawczyk and Joanna Czajkowska and performed by the dancers of the Sopot Dance Theater.
The inspiration for the artists of the Sopot Dance Theatre for the spectacle ‘Discrete Charm of Picasso’ is of course the figure of Pablo Picasso, the Spanish painter, graphic artist and sculptor who was born in 1881 in Malaga. He is considered one of the greatest artists of the 20th century, a genius creator of modern art. His versatile, extremely rich creativity has been an endless inspiration for artists from various fields of art in the 20th and 21st centuries. Picasso - the creator not only of paintings, but also graphics, ceramics, sculptures, scenography, illustrations, as a representative of such trends in art as realism, surrealism, cubism and dadaism is a great inspiration to create vivid stage images in the form of an interdisciplinary modern spectacle, in the spirit of a great artist, his versatile style. Selected works from various periods, from subtle form, naturalism, cubist deformation, deconstruction, caricature, to surreal abstract expression, will appoint STT creators with a diverse style of moving images of a timeless character. The choreography will be the result of the work of actors-dancers, according to the author's free interpretation and concept on the border of performance, dance, creation and theatrical drama - in a surrealistic-cubist spirit.
